SYNOPSIS:

Author-director Joseph L. Mankiewicz (The Quiet American, All About Eve, A Letter to Three Wives) turns a jaundiced eye towards Hollywood with The Barefoot Contessa starring Humphrey Bogart (Casablanca, The African Queen, The Maltese Falcon, Sabrina) as Harry Dawes, a movie director on the decline, and Ava Gardner (The Killers, The Evening of the Iguana, Mogambo, Present Boat) because the “Contessa” Maria Vargas, an enigmatic Spanish nightclub dancer turned world-famous film star.
